The "Big Backyard Lemonade" Adventure

If you are in the mood to go out on the town and be very casual and not care at all what you look like then America's Backyard is the place to go. Normally I would never be caught dead with my girlfriends drinking out of a huge, i mean HUGE container filled with alcohol and 6 straws, but at America's Backyard I really did not care all that much. It is such a relaxed environment that anything goes there.

When I first heard of their drink called the "Big Backyard Lemonade" i assumed that it was just lemonade with a little bit of alcohol. I could not have been more wrong. There was 7 of us that drank out of the lemonade and every single one of us felt the effects. There is so much lemonade in the drink/container that the alcohol really creeps up on you. I never once felt like I was drinking an alcoholic beverage, but I most definitely was. Big Backyard Lemonade tasted just like pink lemonade. It was seriously one of the best drinks, but also dangerous, mainly because you were not aware of how much alcohol you were consuming. This was a very fun drink because we all got to share it and the drink was the center of some very amazing and memorable pictures. One last time, just be careful and be aware that you are drinking a lot of alcohol even if you do not initially taste it. The bartender told me that this drink is very popular among bachelor parties, birthdays, etc. This is the most fun we have ever had out. Maybe it was because we were able to let our hair down and enjoy our drink/ container, but this is definitely a drink that everyone needs to try.

1 shot of tequila

lemonade

sprite

A "Lindsay Lohan" Shot

My girfriends and I were dragged to the Carolina Ale House by our guy friends to watch a football game this past weekend. We do not care at all about football, but we decided since we were already there we might as well make the best of the night. We went up to the bar and the bartender asked us what we wanted. We knew we wanted to do a shot of something, so we told him we would have a "Redheaded Slut" shot. He asked us if we would be willing to try a "Lindsay Lohan" shot instead. We did not know at first if this guy was being serious or just trying to show off, but either way we agreed to try his version of the shot. After we had taken the shot, he told us that the two shots are pretty much identical except for one key ingredient.

The bartender proceeded to tell us that a "Lindsay Lohan" shot is basically a "Redheaded Slut" shot, but a splash of Coke is added to the shot. Anyone that picks up a gossip magazine or turns on an entertainment show would know that adding Coke to a "Redheaded Slut" shot and calling it a "Lindsay Lohan" shot is humourous given her drug past. The Redheaded Slut shot has never been my favorite, but adding something as simple as coke really improved the shot. I went from not really loving the shot, to actually enjoying it. It was strange but both the Redheaded Slut shot and Coke are not my favorite beverages, but put together in a shot it had a very interesting taste that I think a lot of people would enjoy.

The Lindsay Lohan Shot is made with:

1 oz peach schnapps

1 oz Jagermeister herbal liqueur

cranberry juice

Coke

chill and serve.

The "Fresh" Apple Martini

Fresh Restaurant and Nightclub is located in the Weston Town Center in Weston. When people had first told me about Fresh, I assumed a nightclub in Weston was probably not going to be very good. I was proven wrong. Fresh is a great place to go with your girlfriends and just have a relaxing night. After work, my girlfriends and I decided to go to Fresh for a drink. Being the Apple Martini drinker that I am, I opted for an Apple Martini of course. I never expected to truly like the Apple Martini because I am very picky about my martini's. After trying the martini I was pleasantly surprised. The Apple Martini's at Fresh are very good, but they way they are made is pretty unique.

The Fresh Sour Apple Martini is made with:

finlandia vodka

sour apple schnapps

dash of sour mix

I have never had an Apple Martini made with cherries before. After the bartender was done preparing our Apple Martini's he proceeded to put a splash of cherry in the martini's, and he also put at least 3 cherries in each of our martini's. It was something different, but it gave the martini a very interesting taste that I thoroughly enjoyed. Putting cherries in an Apple Martini is definitely something I have not tasted before, but it gave the Apple Martini a great taste. If you are willingly to try something new on your Apple Martini then definietely come to Fresh and try having cherries on your Apple Martini.

The "Green Apple" Martini

From the first time I saw the pilot episode of "Sex and the City" I have always wanted to try a Cosmopolitan. Once I tried a Cosmo, I knew that was not the drink for me. I decided to try an Apple Martini and since then every time I go out for drinks, I have an Apple Martini. Blue Martini in Fort Lauderdale by the Galleria Mall is the best place to go for Apple Martini's. What makes their Apple Martini's even better is that on Wednesdays is Ladies Night, so Ladies get a free martini. My girlfriends and I went on Wednesday and I had my Apple Martini as usual. This time I asked the bartender to tell me a little about how he makes the Apple Martini. He informed me there is now two different types of Apple Martinis, they are the Green Apple Martini and the Candied Apple Martini. I tried both and trust me, the Green Apple Martini is still the best. I guess the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" counts when it comes to the original Apple Martini.

The ingredients to make a Green Apple Martini are:

Van Gogh Blue Vodka

Sour Apple Pucker

splash of Sprite and Sour mix.

This is definitely the best Apple Martini in South Florida. I know my Apple Martini's because it is definitely my favorite martini. I love that they put a slice of apple on the top of the martini for presentation. It looks really nice and it just gives it a little bit of a sweeter taste. The bartender told me that this is one of their most popular martini's. He said that women of all different ages appreciate the quality and taste of this wonderful martini. When you come to Blue Martini definitely try the Apple Martini. You will be amazed and I am sure it will become one of your top cocktails of all time.

The "Buttery Nipple" Shot

Aruba Beach Cafe is definitely an extremely fun restaurant. It is located on Commercial Boulevard all the way down by the beach. From the moment I walked in I knew it was going to be a very good night. It is a restaurant/bar. They have a dance floor that is located right next to the main bar. We went out for my girlfriend Alexis' 21st birthday (white shirt) and we finished off dinner with a round of shots to celebrate her birthday. She decided she wanted to do a round of Buttery Nipple Shots. The Buttery Nipple Shot is one of the most popular shots around, but everyone has their own twist on this shot.

The Buttery Nipple Shot is made by:

1 oz Buttershots liqueur

1/2 oz Irish cream Irish cream

1 tsp grenadine syrup

Pour Buttershots into shot glass.

Add Grenadine.

Top with Irish Cream of choice

This Buttery Nipple shot was very good. It tasted different than all the other Buttery Nipple Shots I have tried in the past. This shot was sweeter than most and it had a very strong after taste. I asked the bartender, Christy, what their signature shot was and she told us the Buttery Nipple Shot. She was very accurate because this shot was extremely strong and you definitely the difference after just one shot. What made the effects of the shot even better was the live band that plays throughout the whole night. This was a great place to go and try either a new shot or a good but an oldie, such as the Buttery Nipple. If you want to be surrounded but good music, great people, and fantastic Buttery Nipples Shots, this is the place to go.

The "Birthday" Shot

As most people that know me are aware, I absolutely love my birthday. So for my 22nd birthday this year I decided to try different types of shots. All of my friends joined me at the Whiskey Blue Lounge in the W hotel on Fort Lauderdale beach. I highly recommend everyone coming to Whiskey Blue if they are up for trying new and exciting drinks. This very fun and handsome bartender named Bill told me that he wanted to make me a "special" birthday shot. At first i was apprehensive, but then I thought "Why not? It's my birthday!" After I took the shot I asked Bill what it was and he said it was a Lemon Drop Fusion Shot.

I had only ever heard of a Lemon Drop Fusion Martini, but he informed me that he made it into a shot, just for me :) A single Lemon Drop Fusion Shot is made up of:

2 oz lemon vodka

1 oz triple sec

1/2 oz Cocktail Infusions Cranberry Twist

3 splashes lemon juice

2 1/2 oz lemonade with pulp

1 oz orange juice with pulp.

Finally you shake ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice.

This had to be hands down one of the best shots I have ever tasted. I thought the best thing about Whiskey Blue was the lounge, but I was very wrong. This "special" birthday shot that Bill made me for my birthday is the thing that keeps me coming back to Whiskey Blue. The girls and I actually went out to Whiskey Blue on Saturday for my friend Ashley's birthday and we had a round of shots. Of course I convinced everyone to try the Lemon Drop Fusion Shot and all of my girlfriends fell in love with it. This shot has become the new thing for us to drink everytime we go out. Between the ambiance of the lounge and the tasty shot, this would definitely be considered to be one of the best birthdays I have ever had.
