The Hurricane

My boyfriend wanted us to try something different for dinner this past weekend, so he suggested we go to Boston's on the beach. I had never heard of it, so I figured we should try it. We always need new places to try. Boston's is a cool restaurant right on the water with a live band and the ocean in the background. They have a drink menu that is pages long. There are so many different cocktails to try. The Hurricane cocktail caught my eye and I wanted to try and see what it was like. It didn't hurt that it comes with the little umbrella and I am a sucker for drinks with the little umbrella.
The Hurricane cocktail is made with:

one ounce white rum
one ounce Jamaican dark rum
half an ounce Bacardi 151
Equal parts OJ & pineapple juice
half an ounce grenadine
Build drink in a tall glass on ice.

This drink was a very strong drink, so there is really only a need to drink one or two. They taste so wonderful and exquisite. I love the glasses they come in also. I almost loved the presentation of this drink as much as I love the drink itself. Lately I have been into trying fruity drinks and this drink was by far one of the strongest, yet fruitiest drinks I have ever had. This drink contains equal amounts of liquor and juice so it really is a perfect combination. The alcohol is not overbearing so this drink really is a great cocktail. If you are up for trying a fruity drink with a strong aftertaste then The Hurricane is the drink for you.

  1. Dear Christina,

The publishing company Jacqui Small has an upcoming book called 'World's Best Cocktails'. Published in Autumn 2012, it will include, amongst other features, the world's top bars and recipes for 'couture' cocktails chosen by top bartenders.

The book needs high resolution pictures of cocktails, bottles of the featured brands, bars, bartenders and general mood shots. This includes the cocktail Hurricane.

I am very much hoping you would be so kind as to provide this photo for us? Or the source of this photo? In exchange we are giving the photographer and the company credits in the Acknowledgments section of the book. We hope that such wide-reaching advertising, and a connection with a popular book, are good offerings in exchange for your help.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask,

    Very best
    Cathy
